DRIVER INTERFACE
Improved the ergonomics of the cockpit: adjustable dimensions, space, distance from pedals, angle of seat, distance to firewall, pressure on headrest. Designed the cockpit mockup for high adjustability: cockpit mockup allows testing of different configurations; seat back angle, thigh angle, steering location, dash height, clearance to the floor, pedal height, spring stiffness and deflection, shifter location, reclining position.
Designed and refined the subsystem comprised of driver interfaces, seat, belts, steering wheel, steering column, control panel/dash, cockpit sizing (to fit 5th-95th percentile drivers) & protection, driver ease of control, shifter, pedals, braking system
Seat: 7 ply carbon fiber layups with copper mesh backing, ergonomic; hugs shoulders and hips while still allowing movement for steering, angled to lower center of gravity, 6 point safety harness.
Steering wheel: custom made carbon plate, 3D printed custom fit grips, simplified with less buttons and screen
Dashboard: screen with debugging functionality, large display for battery life and speed, accessible buttons for mode changes (acceleration, skid pad, endurance…)
